Long Distance Running And Body Building?
Sunday, January 8, 2012 18:47I am a 20 year old male, my current weight is 10st 12lb and am 6 foot tall. I have skinny arms and legs and some fat around my belly.
I have two fitness goals:
1. Build muscle, particularly biceps, triceps and chest, and a six pack.
2. Long distance running with the intention of completing a half marathon.
I have been told that in order to achieve the six pack, I need to burn fat around my belly and do countless abdominal exercises. Will the running be enough to burn the fat?
I would appreciate some advice on whether this can be achieved. I need some information on diet plans and a training routine.
Thank you in advance.

yes, the running should burn fat if you stay committed to it. Although, you WILL need to have a healthy (or at least kind of healthy) diet as well. For the running, you should do AT LEAST 20 minutes (to start) of running a day, for 3-5 days a week, for six weeks before you’ll plateau.
As for body building, find a good work out and make sure to use less reps and more weight! (Same amount per week)
I know lots of people are all gungho about having an unber healthy diet plan, but i really believe that that isn’t very realistic. Make sure you do eat healthy, and also lots if you’re doing all that exercise, but dont deprive yourself of everything, because once you’re finished all this, it wont stick unless if you really like the foods you’re eating.
If you’re motivated and willing to work hard, then yes, you can do this, i would consult an expert on your routines and possible diet plans though:)
